Have you tried to force Windows to output stereo?  Control Panel->Hardware and Sound->Sound->Highlight your soundcard/device->Configure->Choose the configuration you want.

Can you please try setting your Communications settings to "do nothing" (Hardware and Sound -> Sound -> Communications).  Let us know how that goes.
